SST-2974 - GM - 4L80E & 4L85E Turbine Shaft Teflon Seal Installer / Expander & Re-Sizing Transmission Tool - 3 Piece Kit
- This tool will help with the installation and re-sizing of the 4L80E & 4L85E Turbine Shaft Seals.
- Works with all input shaft lengths.
- Simple to
use and the re-sizer prevents improper installation and damage of the seals.
- Made of steel and will outlast the more common GM Kent-Moore plastic tools.
- 3 piece Tool Kit comes with the Universal Seal
Expander for both ends, the Small End Teflon Seal Re-Sizer and the
Large End Teflon Seal Re-Sizer.
Simple to use Instructions:
- Properly remove the old seals, make sure all seal debris is removed from each groove.
- Lube the grooves, new seals, and tools with trans-gel.
- Expand the seals for the small end first to the proper ID
- Center the new seals in the grooves and gently apply finger pressure to ensure the seals are inserted into the grooves.
- Slide
the small re-sizer over the seals using the LONG TAPERED END first,
this will ensure the seals are gradually seated into the grooves
- NOTE: using the short tapered side first may cause the seals to roll out of the grooves and permanently damaging them!!!
- Let
the re-sizer set the seals for at least one minute, then flip the
re-sizing tool now using the SHORT TAPERED SIDE to insure both seals are
properly sized.
- Repeat the same steps for the large end
making sure all grooves, seals and tools are properly lubed with
trans-gel before installation.
